Back in the day, you could find such institutions around any corner, down any dark alley and even in the back rooms of “so-and-so’s” incense-riddled, candlelit and pagan statue filled apartments. Too bad the psychics and spirits could not foresee their own demise as booming real-estate, it’s brokers and newbie’s pushed all the dark culture out! Lucifer unintentionally paints himself into the proverbial corner in Brooklyn!

I’m kicking back on my mandatory union smoke break and enjoying the scene (not the scenery, but the scene). She’s sharp, super hot and flaunts her intoxicating power like a subtle perfume, invisible but ever so present. I however, am impervious, hard as stone and unbreakable, I assume, as I am made of sand, stone and earth. I’m also made from man and man’s imperfections. Dare I stare another moment?
Did you see the little river dancers, dancing? You have to be quite aware and just a tad inebriated to catch the slightest glimpse of any of them; here’s one laying her mystical petals into the winds that span the eastern rivers of this mystical city. It feels as if they know when you’re watching them, anticipating them and when it’s time to finally show them-selves to be yours; they’re gone! Yours, all yours, only for that brief moment. Look for them only during full moonlight. Are they “Fairy’s?” Do they “bank” or “ski” the choppy waters? You would be “brain-washed” to be fooled by them but, don’t worry, you aren’t the first.

the ladies of the night rule old times square! free from their pimps, these ladies, and there are many, own the stroll! nothing happens without their knowledge. one could only imagine what the strutters would do, could do, or may have already done to anyone that messed with them especially on their own turf!
Graff: to get an “in your face” attitude for this word i used a thick and brightly colored simple 3d style because i knew (hoped) that the “upskirt” poses of the girls would comingle well with the letters. as an artist, you never get a painting to the vision in mind; so many elements change the reality. but when you get close, wow, that is one amazing feeling!

There won’t be a dry eye in the house after you experience a love so strong nothing can contain it! Watch as hell’s fury is vanquished by a woman’s scorn!
Graff: “Love” intertwines and intersects itself and is the only word needed to describe this piece. Like heated lovers the letters are curvy and edgy, simple and complex, like a torrid relationship. Really, that’s what I was going for. I’m trying to achieve sexiness and complexity with the inanimate word, “Love”..
With this piece, I confront my fear of the mighty and often misunderstood pit bull. Two scary and unrelated encounters with pit bulls have contributed to my chronic fear of this powerful beast. The first incident I remember like it was yesterday. I was skateboarding along when from under the dark benches came a charging black pit full speed right at me. With dignity, I closed my eyes, covered my “jewels” and whispered a quiet prayer, but to my astonishment, the dog yanked my skateboard from me! I was so relieved to be intact, but I did have to replace that deck. The 2nd encounter sent me to the emergency room after receiving a head butt from my friend’s pit, who I will call “No, not my dog, he’s nice!” These incidents left me with a fear of pits that came complete with recurring nightmares. Nightmares that have since vanished, along with my fear of pit-bulls after completing this painting. There’s nothing much better than effective self-therapy!

The still life, I can’t stand still life’s. All those high school hours wasted trying to reproduce this lame flower and fruit bowl never made any sense to me. It never looked good, we were just kids! Here is my revenge to the still life, as much as I can fathom an appreciation to the techniques or executions or use of lights and shadows! I researched many still life paintings, always with fresh fruits or veggies, some with meat and others with wine, all with pretty much the same crap so I went to the super market…for freshness, if you call what’s in the supermarket fresh, and there it was, inspiration! Right there beneath the flickering fluorescents, aisles and aisles of color and words claiming freshness, fruits, veggies, meats, everything I needed for my still life was there because food, whether fake or not is a vice, isn’t it?

For thousands of years, black cats have been regarded as mysterious creatures with supernatural powers that were associated with witches and even death. It’s also believed that witches have the ability to change into cats, nine times in fact, which originates from the belief that cats have nine lives. Dread of cats, especially black ones, first arose in Europe during the middle ages. The characteristics of the cat’s independence, arrogance, and stealth along with its sudden overpopulation in major cities, have contributed to its fall from grace. Alley cats were often fed by poor, lonely older ladies when witch hysteria struck many of these homeless women were accused of practicing black magic, their cat companions (especially black ones) were guilty of witchery by association. Not even I could make this up!

Do I really need to say much about this vice? Gambling is one of the most powerful, and alluring of all vices! It’s risky, seductive and completely EVL! No other industry could survive by taunting and flaunting that it will remove your hard earned currency so efficiently as gambling. Not maybe, not if, but almost absolutely, you will lose your cash and valuables! The gambler, knowing that the odds are stacked against his favor, yet continues to roll the dice, must be harboring an addiction to the anxieties. Who knows what the attraction is, whether the sound of falling coins into a metal tray or the flush of a flush, perhaps it’s as simple as the joy of hearing the dealer shout out, 21!
