Erni Vales invented the visual language that urban art speaks today.

Erni Vales invented 3D graffiti — the dimensional visual language that shaped urban art worldwide. In 1990, he developed the style that would inspire a generation of artists across the globe. Emerging from New York City’s hip-hop scene, he has spent over four decades translating street art into every layer of culture: subway cars, Hollywood sets, Chanel campaigns, and gallery walls.

His 16-year collaboration with photographer David LaChapelle produced defining images of Madonna, Eminem, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga. Clients include Google, Apple Music, Chanel, and Pepsi. His paintings — large-scale acrylics deconstructing cultural icons through his signature 3D style — are held in private collections internationally.

He lives and works in Miami.
